Segundo Huarte

Mr. Segundo Huarte holds a Bachelor degree in Economics and Business Administration from the University of the Basque Country and has followed the Senior Business Management Program (PADE) from IESE. He has held different positions in BBVA for 32 years, including General Director of Banco de Comercio, Territorial Director of BBVA Canarias and CEO and Country Manager of BBVA Portugal, and has also been an Independent Advisor for a multinational company in the food sector. He is currently Dean of the University Area and a member of the Steering Committee of ESIC Business & Marketing School.

Ignacio Soret Los Santos, PhD.

BS in Telecommunications Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Madrid and BA in Business Economics (Administration, Management and Organization) from the Faculty of Legal and Social Sciences of the Rey Juan Carlos University of Madrid. Accredited by ACAP. He also holds diplomas in Business Administration, Programming and Project Control and Quality Control from the Polytechnic University of Madrid. He has worked in the Ministry of Defense, in the Defense Advisory Commission for Arms and Related Material (CADAM) and in the Center for Advanced National Defense Studies (CESEDEN), as Director of R&D in Sensor Technologies and as Managing Director in ESABE EXPRES. He is currently Director of the Research Department at ESIC Business & Marketing School, Director of the Master degree of Logistics & Retail Management at ESIC, Director of the Master degree in Logistics and Commercial Distribution Management, LODC, at ESAN-ESIC (International Agreement Peru-Spain) and professor in graduate and postgraduate Operations, Supply Chain and Logistics, Commercial Research and Sales Forecasting courses.He is also the author of several papers and presentations at international conferences (INSITE, EUROMA, AEDEM, ACEDE, AEMARK, ECMS, ALTEC ...), publications in national and international scientific journals and author of several books with ESIC Editorial (Commercial and Business Logistics, Logistics and Marketing for commercial distribution, Business Logistics and Operations, A Model for Knowledge Measurement and generation of sustainable competitive advantages within the "efficient response to consumer" initiative, Fabulous Marketing Stories, Mathemagics, Let the Show Start, Sales Forecast), with Dykinson and Open Science. For the past 14 years he has been the director and reporter of the daily radio space "Marketing" (called "Con sumo gusto, consumo y sociedad responsable"at present), on Radio 5 Todo Noticias.


María Guijarro García, PhD.

ANECA-accredited PhD in Integration of New Technologies in Business Management from the Polytechnic University of Valencia (UPV). She also holds a degree in Computing Management Systems from the UPV and an MBA from ESIC Business and Marketing School. She is a graduate and postgraduate professor at ESIC Valencia and assistant director of the Research Department at ESIC Business & Marketing School. In the area of research, she has focused her doctoral dissertation and articles (published in journals indexed with JCR, Scopus and other impact factors) on management of customer relations, strategy, marketing or digitalization and business models, and has participated in national and international conferences. She has participated in R&D projects of the Ministry of Labour and Immigration (FIPROS Awards) and in two R&D projects of the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness. She has been involved in the organization of scientific committees in several national and international conferences, has been a visiting researcher at the Fachhochschule University in Dortmund (Germany) and at IADE - Creative University in Lisbon (Portugal) and cosupervises doctoral dissertations with the UPV on topics like knowledge management, strategy and digitalization. She is responsible for the project Súmate al Debate (“Join the Debate”, Critical thinking for pre-university and university students), together with the Activa-T Foundation, and also for the international project "Learning to Learn" by Barbara Oakley (professor at the University of Arizona). She has been director of the International Symposium of Applied Innovation (IMAT) in five editions. Her professional profile includes director positions in consulting and marketing departments of different companies (SMEs and multinationals).


Abel Monfort, PhD.

He is currently Director of Research for Undergraduate Studies at ESIC Business & Marketing School. Dr Monfort is a PhD professor accredited by ANECA and a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. He has been a visiting scholar at the Hoffman Center for Business Ethics (Bentley University). His research is focused on CSR communication in social media. Dr Monfort has published several articles and book chapters and participated in R&D projects funded by the Spanish National Plan for Scientific and Technological Research and Innovation (National Programme for Research Aimed at the Challenges of Society). Dr Monfort is an associate researcher at the ESIC Business & Marketing School Research Lab (aka UPI) and a member of the Chair in Economic and Business Ethics at Comillas Pontifical University. He is also a member of the research group “Branding and integrated communication centre” in the School of Communication of the Complutense University School.

The 50th edition of the European Marketing Academy EMAC Conference has ended successfully!

This edition is certainly special not only because it is the 50th anniversary of this prestigious academic conference, but also its first ever online edition! 

We would like to thank ESIC Business & Marketing School for going to great lengths to organize and host it. It has been undoubtedly a great success.
